One of the greatest gifts my husband and I are giving our children to enroll in a Montessori school when they were infants. We quickly learned that even can learn the age of 14 months children how to care for themselves and become actively involved in family life. In fact, they even put into words and deeds, “Help me do it myself!”
By adapting to meet our domestic environment on the needs of our oldest son, we have determined that it contains more action and less. We also benefit because our son is always self-sufficient in the house.
Here is a list of 10 simple changes you can make in your home to support your child’s independence.
First: Estynyddion change Liqht
Attitude of some of these at your home so your child the light in the room has access to. We are the ones we buy are made of transparent plastic, so it was not an eyesore in the house. At first your child may be so exciting that it is eager to put into practice the lights on and off. A LOT. This too shall pass.
Second: A low cupboard in the kitchen with a couple of cups, plates and cutlery filled
Give your child a few containers are easy with a ready meal that can be stored on a shelf in the pantry or refrigerator, open, and filled a small glass of juice or water. Your child can help himself. Be sure to show him how to clean up after themselves. In our houses we started with napkins. Children this age love to bend, so that he learns napkins, how to fold and store.
Third: Low shelves and baskets in the bedroom and living room
Put a few toys and puzzles on each shelf. Pen toy with many pieces in containers or baskets attractive. Encourage your child to play with a toy at a time, and again before the other toys. Keep other toys are put away, and rotated every few weeks.
Instill a love of books by storing books in baskets throughout your home. Children this age will enjoy browsing through books on what they see in the world. Give you a wide selection of books with photos and real life pictures of animals, insects, plants and humans.
4th: Child-size tables and chairs in the kitchen, common areas and rooms
If your child is prepared snack, or select a puzzle, you need to eat or a place to play. We buy unfinished wood table top and legs of a hardware store and color to fit our organization. The legs of different sizes, so it was easy to replace, you just grow up the table legs as our children. High Chairs are unfinished made available in craft stores. If they are too high for the child, cut the legs to give the size of the child.
5th: Stool to climb in the bathroom on the toilet and the sink.
The choice of pan or toilet seat that fits on a standard toilet and provides a seat for your child to the toilet. This stool can also help your child in the sink and countertop. Keep your baby toothbrush and toothpaste, hairbrush, and within reach.
6th The Learning Tower and larger chairs for the kitchen
For toddlers, the Learning Tower is a safe choice, because the child is surrounded on all sides. As they grow older, but bigger, folding chair is in order. Small children love to play with water in the sink and to help prepare the meals.
7th: Child-size equipment for house and garden
Children get much satisfaction as they participate in the care of the house and garden. A child-size broom, mop and dustpan give small brush. Stores often cheap and small broom tails metal. The pole of the Swiffer be customized and can be made for your child for just the right size. On a small shelf, a basket handle with spray bottle with water, a small squeegee and washcloth for washing windows. Cut sponge in half fit comfortably in the hand of a child, and holds a small basket with a washcloth in the kitchen, encourage your child to wipe the spill.
Gardening tools and gloves for children are often available at Target in the spring. Keep to choose a selection of small vases on hand for the children and arrange flowers. See section below for links to Web sites, child-oriented products, you can find locally.
8th: Double Hang Closet Rod
Allow your child to his own closet rod, which he can choose to achieve. Give him clothes that are easy on and off with an easy-to-use fasteners, buttons or velcro. Put a small clothes in her closet for clothes to prevent dirty. Encourage him to ask for him by the clothes to give away his dirty clothes and clean clothes on hangers, to help wash to make his toilet.
9th: Hook at the height of your child’s installed
Install hooks on the front and rear doors, so that your child hangs up his coat itself. Hook in the bathroom allows the child to keep his towel.
10th : Small basket and extra clothes during potty in all bathrooms
“Go to the toilet” in some classes, Montessori kindergarten, starts from Day 1, where the children wear cotton pants, diapers instead of training. To support this change in the house, we consider a change of clothes and a basket of dirty laundry in every bathroom. If our children “an accident” was, they knew they could go to any bathroom in the house and their own clothes. This method of toilet training is very effective for our children, both of which are out of diapers before they are two years old.
To help adapt your home to your child’s development and independence is easy to do and will support them. Children are able to give a credit for most adults, and the environment will change their size and their needs are entitled to adjust their growth. If you see what your child can do, and begin the pride and joy in your child as his duties in daily life, you will have the pleasure of helping him to discover your home and you will find more ways to make your environment match to know their efforts and learn how to “do it yourself” to support.
